TRAVEL
Reykjavik
WHAT WE DID: Reykjavik
Wandering Skólavörðustígur (the rainbow street) and Laugavegur (the shopping street).
Hallgrimskirkja Church - beautiful architecture. We chose not to but for ~$10, you can visit the top of the tower. Supposed to have amazing views!
Lava show - we got sucked into one of the tourist traps and loved it! A local university student led a demonstration and explanation of all things lava. Plus who doesn’t look good wearing safety glasses?
Sun Voyager - stunning art piece on the edge of the water. We hit it in the early morning and were able to avoid the crowds while watching the sun reflect.
Perlan Museum - an amazing natural history museum (or as they call it, a “nature exploratorium”). We got to walk through an ice cave, experience the northern lights (since they weren’t around in the summer), learn about volcanic eruptions, and more!
WHAT WE ATE: Reykjavik
Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur - fantastic hot dogs. We were told to ask for ‘one with everything’ - and so glad we did! We even came back for seconds later that same night.
Svarta Kaffio - the most amazing bread bowls and soup I’ve had. They had two soup options (vegetarian and not) and served us from huge pots as soon as we sat down.
Braud and Co - load up on pastries from this bakery, especially their cinnamon rolls.
WHERE WE STAYED: Reykjavik
A great location, central to everything we wanted to see in Reykjavik! Would stay here again.
