ICELAND: What to Pack

WHAT TO PACK

  • Eye mask. If visiting during the summer, expect daylight 24 hours a day. This eye mask should help get some beauty sleep still!

  • Rain pants and jacket. Even if it wasn’t raining, we often put both on to protect against the spray of the waterfalls and keep ourselves warm against the wind. Highly recommend these iCreek rain pants, affordable and comfy!

  • Water bottle. Iceland has the freshest water so save those plastic bottles and fill up from taps as you go! This Hydroflask was the perfect packable size and kept our water cold all day!

  • Daypack. This G4Free backpack was the perfect size for our rain gear, snacks, and water bottle.

  • Waterproof phone pouch. This Hiearcool Waterproof Phone Pouch is perfect for the spray of all the waterfalls!

  • Adapter. Iceland uses a Type C or Type F plug. This one comes in a set of 11 different adapters, including C and F.

  • Portable charger. This one comes in fun colors, is affordable, has built in cords, and wasn’t too bulky. Perfect for taking around with us during the day.

  • Bug spray (and sunscreen!). Ranger Ready Repellents Picaridin Insect Repellent Spray is TSA compliant, and worked great when the wind died down.

  • Lots of layers! Even in the summer, we spent most of the trip in pants, alternating between shedding our down jacket and bundling up. And pack your swimsuit for dips in the many hot springs around Iceland!

For van camping:

  • Necessities for camp showers: shower shoes (just like college), shampoo, conditioner, towel (unless included in your van rental).

  • Additional camping supplies: sleeping bag and pillow (unless included in your van rental), extra trash bags and rubber bands, spices
