BRAZIL: São Paulo
Big city, great museums, and delicious food!
WHAT WE DID: São Paulo
Museum of Art São Paulo (MASP): The seemingly floating art museum on Paulista Avenue. The museum restaurant came highly recommended - and we loved the food! We enjoyed wandering the museum (warning - it was cold in there for how hot it was outside!) and seeing the art.
Beco do Batman: A vibrant alley devoted to amazing street art. Pick up chocolate at Dengo after - makes for great souvenirs!
Paulista Avenue: We were sad to not be there on a Sunday when they close down the road to cars. But we enjoyed walking through the shopping district and seeing everyone on their way home from work.
Ibirapuera Park: A huge park in the middle of the city. Lots of people walking, biking, and picnicking. But it didn't feel crowded. We sipped mango juice as we wandered.
Liberdade: Japanese neighborhood with lanterns hung along the streets and delicious food. And a koi garden for some shade!
Museu do Ipiranga: Learn about the history of Brazil and relax on a bench in the shade in their beautiful gardens.
Museu Do Futebol: For soccer lovers, a fun way to learn about the history of soccer in Brazil! And test your skills with some games - soccer tic tac toe anyone?
WHAT WE ATE: São Paulo
Barbacoa - go here for your Rodízio dreams to be fulfilled! No reservations so arrive at opening if you don’t want to wait. We got there half an hour after opening and waited an hour. But they are prepared with a lounge to wait in where you can order a drink and munch on free mini empanadas!
A Bananeira - delicious and convenient for your visit to MASP as it’s just in the basement!
Leggera Pizza Napoletana - great pizza, cozy patio!
Bubu Cafe - perfect spot to check off two items on the list: visit the Museu Do Futebol and try feijoada!
Mugui - sushi and noodles in Liberdade!
The View - a rooftop bar perfect for sipping cocktails while watching the sunset!
