TRAVEL
Vilnius
WHAT WE DID: Vilnius
Wander the Old Town
The gorgeous, medieval Old Town is full of alleys to explore where you’ll see a variety of architecture and colorful buildings.
Visit Trakai Castle
Beautiful castle in the middle of a sparkling lake!
We were told the best way to see it was by hot air balloon. But the wind was in full force the day of our visit so we toured by foot instead. The castle itself is majestic on the lake and absolutely worth the quick trip out of Vilnius!
We took a Bolt out there early in the morning to beat the crowds, toured the castle itself once opened, then took the train back into Vilnius.
Vilnius Cathedral
One of the oldest churches in Lithuania, this gorgeous church is surrounded by an open square and open to the public for a peek inside.
St. John’s Church Bell Tower
Take the elevator almost to the top of the bell tower, climb the final set of stairs, and soak in the views of the red roofed Vilnius in all directions!
Visit Užupis
This artsy district of Vilnius, self-proclaimed the “Republic of Užupis,” has its own constitution (a street full of translations!), a bronze angel to welcome you, and a food hall with endless options.
Museum of Occupations and Freedom Fights
This museum is within former KBG headquarters and prison, offering the opportunity to learn more about Lithuania’s recent past.
WHAT WE ATE: Vilnius
Nineteen18 - An incredible Michelin Star experience! If given the option, sit at the chef’s table where you’ll enjoy the amazing tasting menu and make friends with the chefs who are hard at work making it for you.
Paupio Turgus - A food hall with endless options in the self-proclaimed the “Republic of Užupis.” We tried the peri peri chicken and the Udon bowl and loved both.
Bear&Boar Brewery Taproom - Try some local beers in the most adorable glasses.
Būsi trečias - A great spot to try traditional Lithuanian food.
Pinavija - Adorable cafe on a street without cars. Try the cottage cheese pancakes!
WHERE WE STAYED: Vilnius
Clean, comfy, and the perfect central location. Would stay here again!
